connection help for madaxx

I got a PM from madaxx about his connection issue.

I can't post on the genaral forums, so could you maybe forward this to one of your IT savy guys. I have done all I can do from the ISP, I have run blizz repair, and I have deleted all addons. I am still having major latency issues. This is what I know. I can restart my modem and do a speed check and its running at almost 3.0 mbps which is perfect, then I log on to wow and latency spikes to 2k, I log out and run a speed check again and its at 0.29 mbps which is terrable. Then if I reboot modem its back up to 3.0. I am all out of Ideas if you have any you can send them to willcraig4food@yahoo.com or holler at me in vent i'll be in most of the day. I know i'm the new guys but i'm never gonna be able to raid with that kind of latency and well I WANNA KILL THE LK!!!!!! oh and all this started about a week or so ago, ran at optimal levels all before that. I have 4.0 RAM ati radeon HD 4650 video card, I should be perfect to run wow.

my only additional question would be does this happen when MsDaxx is on the network too? What if its just her PC and wow client running?

Only thing I can think of is if something is triggering a bandwidth clamp on the ISP end. I know he says he's spoken to them... but. Hmm. The patcher is a torrent client. (Thinking out loud).

Does the same thing happen when Msdaxx plays alone?

Could be his NIC I suppose, do we know if he's running hard-wired or wireless? I loathe wireless for gaming and only use it in situations where it's absolutely necessary, which is very rare. I'm also curious if the same thing is happening on both machines.

I seem to recall hearing that they are on satellite internet, which is notoriously terrible. From the horror stories I've heard from family members who live in remote areas, this kind of high-latency issue being new to him really surprises me.

Satelite is not too terrible anymore in the US.

the rosetta stone will fall with MsDaxx. if she experiences the same issues as he does then we know it is not their PC's next thing would be to try a new router if they are using that for NAT/ internet connection sharing. If that checks out ok then I would suspect the modem is their issue.
