A good rule of thumb for Spirit regen -
The 5 Second Rule begins as soon as the casting bar leaves your screen. It does not start at spell cast; it starts when your cast completes.
Myrcaus - Death Knight, Scribe
Myrcinstatos - Warlock, Elixir Master
"Spell casting never stops direct mana regeneration effects from items"
OK got it. :pat:
Seems like MP5 gear is much better than Spirit gear to keep your mana up on endurance fights then eh?
I did it for the lulz.
Myrkris - Troll Shaman
Mnevis - Tauren Warrior
Zulkath - Undead Priest
Correct. Lifebloom is like tick..tick...tick...tick...tick..tick BLOOM where the ticks are regens and the bloom is the end heal. The ticks count in the caster's healing numbers but the bloom is the person healing themselves - which is why sometimes in a group on a raid you'll see some funny people on the healing meters.
The mana/5 stat was actually introduced because spirit was essentially worthless. Blizzard has added a few talents since then that makes spirit useful, but spirit for mana regen is less than optimal. The second you have to really dish out damage or healing (since this really applies for all casters), you can wave bye-bye to any and all benefits from spirits that are not due to talents.
Hmmm. I did not know that the blooming would count for them getting extra threat/aggro. Definitely something I'll keep in mind - thanks, Moogaa.
I'll admit that I'm still not 100% on how it goes away and heals the final bloom amount before the 6 seconds are finished, but I know I've watched it happen plenty of times. So that's only done through dispelling it?
Well, that's what the sources that I found online suggest - but I wouldn't take it as gospel. I actually don't remember ever having it happen to me so I was surprised to see it mentioned at all (and automatically assumed that I was just being dense).
Usually when I use it, I go off of the audio cues coming from Aess's machine to know when to restack it, since it makes a sound when it blooms - however after reading some things today I think I'm going to experiment with doing it that way and doing it the way where it never blooms to see which is more effective. Maybe I'll ask the house geek to crunch the numbers.
Aaaaah. So that means that my usual modus operandi of chaining together lifeblooms gives me a perpetual 334 mana every five seconds no matter what, plus my spirit's regen of mana right before I cast it, since it's every 5-6 seconds on an instant spell.
That also means that innervate (400% mana regen while casting) *only* uses my spirit regen, but isn't interrupted by casting.
My regen bonus from having points in dreamstate is part of my always occurring 334 mana/5, right?
Not correct. If you log in (or look at your armory profile), go to the spell part of your character sheet. It'll show mana regen at the bottom. Hover your mouse cursor over it. You will get 143 mana/5 while casting, but 334 mana/5 if you have not cast for 5 seconds. That means your spirit is good for 191 mana/5 when not casting (after 5 second rule, other rules and restrictions apply, not valid in VT, CA and OR. Cannot be combined with other offers...)
