Thread: Raid Manager

    Raid Manager

I don't know if anyone mentioned this to WC yet, but Raid Manager seems to be the cause of the looting disconnects in Outland instances. Sabathius mentioned that to me, and since shutting down RM I've only had one disco in an instance (compared with multiple per run before). Might want to look at it before Sunday...

    Re: Raid Manager

It has been mentioned. I've looked at the code and there's nothing I can point to as the cause. Unfortunately, when the looting occurs the specific data RM is collecting is lost with the disconnect.

It could be related to the change Blizzard made to the format of in-game item IDs. That would be my first guess since it doesn't happen on all loot -- just some. It's also fits the facts that it's usually the person receiving the loot and the group leader. Both of those people attempt to parse and report the loot data. But I'm back to the original problem that since the loot data is lost on the disco, I don't know what's different about it.

On a related note, like nearly everyone else in HLS I've been concentrating on leveling my character. Because Blizzard changed the format of the saved variables files, the import into the admin application broke when the mini-patch prior to BC was released. As a result, our last MC raid still isn't imported and processed. My plan was to get to 70 and then work on it while we were waiting for enough other people to get to 70 to raid the new instances. The timing of this raid is killing me.

In the interest of saving WC, I will refrain from Raiding until level 70... ;)

lets not use raid points then.

Changed the event to a non-points event.

This event is for fun, and loot is pretty far down the list of priorities for running this raid.

We'll just use /rand and try to spread the upgrades around that we may come across.

    Re: Raid Manager

Are you sure its RM? and not a combo of RM and another out of date mod?

I was for a few days having all sorts of disconnect pet-bar and party frame issues.

I updated all of my mods to their newest version (only RM and ThreatMeter didnt have updates at the time) and most of my problems stopped.

Every once in a while I will get "loot discoed" but it has only happened twice int he last 2 weeks.

    Re: Raid Manager

I've been running with RM since TBC as well, no loot discos for me at all.

    Re: Raid Manager

Well my rule of thumb is: Don't run addons you don't need to use.

I do per-character addon management at the Addon Management GUI you access from the Character Selection Screen.

I don't ever use the ALL page - except to Disable All -- then goto per-character pages.

Every character has a slightly different set of active addons, and only loads the addons I need for that specific character.

Raiding-specific Addons like Raid Manager, KTM, CT_RaidAssist: I keep them up to date, but they are disabled.

Why load them if I'm not raiding? :smirk:
