WoWAceUpdater - One Stop Ace Mod Updater Program

While I was looking around for some Ace mods updates I ran across this really handy program called WoWAceUpdater. In a nutshell this will auto-find your WoW install, scan for Ace Mods (any mod that runs off of the Ace backbone), checks the Ace Mod website, and will automatically update them.

    WoW Ace Updater

A walkthrough of how to use it:

    1. Unzip to anywhere on your computer. I simply made a folder on my Desktop called WoWAceUpdater and extracted to it.

    2. Run "WoWAceUpdater". It looks like the Ace of Spades (clever huh).

    3. When first launched it will suggest to backup your addons. I copied my "Addons" directory to my desktop.

    4. Verify that it is looking in the right place (this really should only be if you are trying out the Public Test Realm or are in the beta) by clicking on Edit and selecting Preferences (or hit F8). Check that the "WowInstallDirectory is where you installed WoW (default, if I remember, is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\"). All it has to be looking at is the WoW folder, NOT the Interface or Addons folder.

4a. You don't have to change any other settings.

4b. Close out the Settings window. Only if you had to set the WoW install directory will you need to close out WoWAceUpdater and relaunch it.

    5. Now, in the main window you will see a list of the Installed Ace addons, and below that is a listing of the ones you can get, with a bit of a description that are available.

    6. Check, and I recommend, all the installed ones. Now if you want go ahead and scroll through the list of available ones and check any ones you might want to try out.

    7. Once you have them selected, go to "File", select ""Install/Update Marked Addons >", and select "With Externals". Or you can simply press F12.

You will see a status scroll of the updates (if needed) and/or installs, and that is it.

Hope this helps with some of the ruckus and chaos with mods and how often they are updated to get, at the least, some of them updated quickly and without hassle.
I watch Fox News, it's like wearing tight shoes, so you feel good when you take them off.

    Awesome, thanks Red!

    Edit:
In these days of keyloggers, etc. I'm a little reluctant to run it... I'll think about it.
I did it for the lulz.

Before you get your tinfoil hat out, it is made by the Ace developers. If you really want to look into it the source code is available to see. This isn't something I picked up willy-nilly here or from some sort of "questionable" site.

Oh, I trust you - however I need to read all about it before I use it - thanks for the information link.

I wouldn't accept something from my Mother if she had a Master's Degree in Computer Science without going thru "My Process" anyway. ;)

Interesing. Had a good friend, many long years ago. He was standing by when another co-worker noticed I would twitch when he moved his hand ( had a habit of pelting me with a pounce bag, of which I would catch about half)...... the pelter observed, "You don't trust me?" . My buddy replied "He doesn't trust his own mother, and she's been gone for five years"..

A little extreme, but a true anecdote of a time long, long ago in a galaxy far, far away.

Looks pretty cool Red. I'll check it out.
