    He makes a convincing argument - but I'm not so sure the "3.5 second" rule applies here.

    For non-caster bosses, it should probably be an automatic - I'm just not so sure about caster ones.

    It would definitely increase their burst damage against the tanks - which could be a very bad thing toward the end of a fight.

    Just my two silver pieces as a caster...

    The 3.5 second thing he's talking about is a badly oversimplified description of what the effect from +dmg and +healing is.

    I'm guessing that all such effects are tallied whether they're in place on the caster (from +healing gear) or the target (Amplify). At the end of the day what his suggestion probably does is add a virtual +45 in additional healing gear to all the healers on the MT. The total effect of that +healing is still modified by cast times, which is where the 3.5 comes from.

    A good place to try it might be Bloodlord, since his damage is all physical. See what happens.

    Here's the spell description:

    Amplify MagicHistoryRank 4 Amplifies magic used against the targeted party member, increasing damage taken from spells by up to 45 and healing spells by up to 90. Lasts 10 minutes. Increases magic damage taken by up to 45 and healing by up to 90.

    The wording indicates it will probably be affected by casting time. It should definitely be used when raiding, since the increase in the spell damage taken by the MT is going to be trivial compared to the increase in our healing effectiveness. For example, it'll increase the amount healed by every fast heal (Flash heal, Lesser healing wave) by 38 points, which is about 4% more healed per heal. Compare with a magic attack like Geddon's spit, where it's a 4000+ point attack. 45 more is trivial. I wouldn't use it when the MT is getting hit by a lot of spells, but when it's relatively few spells that hit hard this will really pay off. Too bad it won't work on Garr, due to his dispel.
