View Full Version : attunements changed?
In order to get into the 25 man instance dungeons like Serpentshrine and The Eye. you needed to do several different heroic instances. This required you to get revered with the faction to be able to do heroic, AND it meant you had to be pretty well geared and prepared to even complete the heroics and get into the 25 man dungeons. These dungeons are hard like MC was hard for us back in the day. anyway, the good news is that we won't have to spend hours and hours attuning the whole guild. Its still a good idea to get revered and get geared. Heroics are fun and you can get badges which turn into a couple nice upgrades.

I did finally see it - I guess I don't get it though. I have no knowledge of what needed to be done to access those instances in the first place. ;)

Can you be more specific since we can't see the link? Are they dropping revered status as a pre-req to getting a heroic key or are they dropping the heroic pre-req to the larger instances?

Just add it in. :)
Oh and Edit:
Tigole posted:
After a lot of thought and deliberation, we’ve decided to remove the attunement requirements to enter Serpentshrine Cavern and Tempest Keep: The Eye. While many of our attunements in the Burning Crusade have been good progression checks, a few of the attunements have turned out to cause unnecessary stress on guilds either doing the content or attempting to do the content. With Black Temple and Battle for Mount Hyjal thriving, we want to encourage (rather than prevent) new guilds and raid groups to attempt Serpentshrine and TK. We are going to leave the current attunement quests in the game so that players can still engage in the challenge and the lore of those quests should they choose to. At a later point, we are considering adding a final reward step to those quests as well (that way those who have already completed them would not miss out on a *new* reward).
We’re listening to feedback from you guys constantly and your opinions are important to us. We want this game to be the best possible MMO experience for our players.
Enjoy Serpentshrine and Tempest Keep =)
(Please note: This change will go live later today -- it's not yet active)

Good. The Trial of the Naaru Quests were among the attunement quests, and the instances had crappy loot tables compared to the rest of the heroics.

I wouldn't say they had crappy loot. In fact, if I remember correctly, some of our people have expressed interest in both heroic arcatraz and heroic steamvaults :)
That being said, I still intend to finish the attunement quests before I'll set foot in The Eye or Serpentshrine Cavern.
Just need a Nightbane kill, a Gruul kill and some minor heroic work :)

:) Getting re-addicted as we speak. Sorry about the hiatus all, just been doing a poor job at juggling work schedule, WoW-time, RL goings-on, and my Bday present.... Nintendo Wii!!!
It's strangely addicting in it's own right.
We're way behind the curve as far as attunements and heroics, so we'll be working up to raiding, but for now we're just reaquainting ourselves with WoW. :reporter:

Just confirming in this thread that when the attunement quests were removed from the game, the heroic instances were indeed adjusted upward a bit in difficulty. They're still do-able, but take a bit more effort. I noticed this most in UNderbog after the patch. Prior to the change, our group could run it successfully without pots or buffs other than maybe some mana buffs.Since, it takes pretty much full raid self-buffs, making a wee bit more expensive to get the badges. (Using Elixer of Mastery and Elixer of Greater Defense, Rune of Warding and Rune of Shielding and a stam food). But not a lot.
I'm planning on running shadow labyrinth tonight, so i'll have the sauce on that later.
My heroic hit list:
mechanar
arcatraz
steamyvaults
shattered halls
Partially hit:
blood furnace (2/3 done, skipped first boss)
ramparts (2/3 done, not done with final boss)
underbog (2/4 done)
sethekk halls (1/2 done)
To be hit:
shadow labyrinth
botanica
slave pens
mana tombs (need revered with consortium still)
auchenai crypts
My main incentive will remain getting primal nethers for dragonmaw and also getting the faceguard of determination
dragonmaw, its one uuuuuugly mace.

In the same vein as Sol:
Hellfire Citadel:
Hellfire Ramparts (3/3)
The Blood Furnace (1/3) - Only killed last boss
The Shattered Halls (5/5)
Coilfang Reservoir:
The Slave Pens (3/3)
The Underbog (0/4) - Never been
The Steamvaults (3/3)
Auchindoun:
Mana-Tombs (0/4) - Never been
Auchenai Crypts (0/2) - Never been
Sethekk Halls (3/3)
Shadow Labyrinth (4/4)
Caverns of Time:
Old Hillsbrad Foothills (0/3) - Never been
The Black Morass (0/3) - Never been
Tempest Keep:
The Mechanar (5/5)
The Botanica (0/5) - Never been
The Arcatraz (4/4)
I noticed a significant change in difficulty when they made Heroics easier. I have not noticed any changes since then, we can still mostly breeze through them.
Caverns of Time:
Escape from Durnholde (0/3) - Never been
Black Morass (0/3) - Never been
awww man. I want to do black morass heroic. can't believe I forgot that one.
i have heard durnholde is ugly hard. need a strat for the lookouts which have some extra ability in heroic.

For me,
Underbog 4/4
Slave-pen 3/3
Mechanar 5/5
Steamvault 0/3
Arcatraz 0/4 (never been)
Botanica 0/4 (never been)
Shattered Halls 0/5 (never been)
Ramparts 0/3 (been once)
Blood Furnace 0/3 (never been.
So as not to frustrate people that try and find themselves with their hands full, an explanation. There are a couple of different group profiles going into these instances. The Shizzleboddles consist of a shaman healer, a tauren tank, and any combination of a second tank, 1-2 locks, 1-2 mages, 1-2 hunters. depending on who is around. Sol has a very refined group that includes a priest and druid for healing, a paladin MT/healing augmentation, and a DPS class.
It's worth mentioning. IMO take "easy" with a grain of salt. It is very dependant on your gear and the class balance within the group whether or not these will be seen as "easy". We however have had no difficulty in our group with a class balance of shaman healing, warlock/mage/hunter DPS and warrior tanks with the exception of Sepethrea, and steamvaults for some reason I have yet to understand. Our primary disadvantage with this balance is lack of HoT's, stam buff and redundant healing (we run one healer only).
That said I have pulled out 30 or so badges total with our group? Since we started? Enough to buy 3 primals for my sword upgrade anbyway so that's thirty, and I have twelve more banked. It doesn't take very long.

Heh, take any descriptions of "easy" heroics from Aes with about a pound of salt, since he's running them with a very specific group that is probably as close to perfect configuration as possible. If you haven't run any, unless everyone else in your group has a lot of experience you will have a rough time at first, and with some bosses that will continue for a while.

This is true however I will chime in that once our groups get into a groove it almost always goes pretty well. However, there is little doubt that the group you speak of Aess runs with does have a very good track record and to that I say KUDOS! The main point is heroics are fun, challenging, and loot wise highly worth it.
My only goal now is to get Exhalted with CE and KoT for LW patterns. But quite frankly I want to run all heroics. Botanica for example has the best drop rate for a world drop LW pattern at .5%.

I dont know if you know this yet (long time since you posted) but heroic OHB is crazy. The lookouts are on a 5 min respawn, and if you do agro them they summon 2-3 elites that cannot be cc'd. Its basically a wipe. Adds to the lore IMO you are trying to sneak in and rescue thrall. You have to avoid all the pathers while destroying the buidings. Once the buidings are on fire the roamers despawn, so you dont have to worry about them during the boss fight and the upcoming rescue.

Is this stealthable by rogues/druids? I remember reading a while back about having the rogue do the buildings and kinda cheat the encounter.

BTW. I checked the loot table for heroic Old Hills. All of the plate is paladin plate, but there are a couple of nice caster and rogue items to be had. There is a rather nice prot warrior gem.

Oh, and Doomplate is nice for dps types.
4 piece doomplate is dreamy and would make me consider respeccing Fury just so I go pure PVE dps for a week or two.

looks like a couple strats are listed for doing this. rogues stealth/distract sounds like it works. Also, there is a strat there for doing it without a rogue.

I have the Doomplate shoulders. Would not mind at all getting the rest of the set depending how long it takes to farm the arena gear!

The roamers have dogs with incredible stealth detection. But in a way you can "hax it". One way we did it was a rogue would get in position (carefully avoiding roamers). I used eyes of the beast and dash to agro all the guards in the chosen building, and then run like hell with my pet. While my pet causes a diversion rogue plants bomb and vanishes. Rinse repeat times 4.

The only time i have tried Heroic BM (OMG MY SWORD) we had a tank with only 13 in prot and a resto shaman. Normally the resto shaman is one of our best raid healers, but he did not have the mana pool to keep bijorn alive without full raid buffs. I have not tried it on kayllia yet (mostly because i respeced to holy/disc you cant kill me in pvp spec).

Just did this one today. We just killed the lookouts and the adds they spawned. Once we stopped trying to sneak by them, it was a much smoother run :)
