Hey kids. I've largely ignored fishing and cooking in the expansion since I had so many other things to do, but now that things have settled into faction work and 5/10man stuff, I turned my baleful eye to these more menial pursuits.

I instantly discovered my favorite food in the whole game:

Blackened Sporefish
Requires Level 55
Use: Restores 4320 health over 30 sec. Must remain seated while eating. If you spend at least 10 seconds eating you will become well fed and gain 20 Stamina and 8 Mana every 5 seconds for 30 min.

To me, there's no reason any caster should be using any other +sta food. The mana regen is a straight-up bonus compared to any other HP food. The fish are caught in Zangarmarsh, don't seem to be too hard to catch; I'm getting along fine with 307 skill (+25 / +75).

Other fishies I plan to catch make these nice foods:

Poached Bluefish
Requires Level 55
Use: Restores 7500 health over 30 sec. Must remain seated while eating. If you spend at least 10 seconds eating you will become well fed and gain 23 Spell Damage and 20 Spirit for 30 min.

Grilled Mudfish
Requires Level 55
Use: Restores 7500 health over 30 sec. Must remain seated while eating. If you spend at least 10 seconds eating you will become well fed and gain 20 Agility and Spirit for 30 min.

Golden Fish Sticks
Requires Level 55
Use: Restores 7500 health over 30 sec. Must remain seated while eating. If you spend at least 10 seconds eating you will become well fed and increase healing done by 44 and Spirit by 20 for 30 min.

And, of course, everyone's favorite RaidSnack:

Spicy Crawdad
Requires Level 55
Use: Restores 7500 health over 30 sec. Must remain seated while eating. If you spend at least 10 seconds eating you will become well fed and gain 30 Stamina and 20 Spirit for 30 min.

Yes, there are other foods that can give most of these effects, but until 2.1 the only source for 30 sta food is fishing, and I don't see any other way to get 20 sta and 8/5 mana than the Sporefish. So, break out your poles! You might just snag a world drop, too. =)

As Shiz would say, YAR! I bought some of the Grilled Mudfish before hitting the heroic last night. Much cheaper than pots and nearly as effective.

Well Fed buffs stack with potion buffs, for those really challenging fights. =)

Add an elixer and you have d Uber buffs, +20 stam, +15 all stats, and +potion. How can you beat that?

Well... other than getting one-shotted by a walking mushroom?

Well, the potions we refer to are actually elixirs in most cases. You can stack certain of those, though, as well.

For example, Adept's Elixir (24 +dmg and + spell crit) stacks with Elixir of Greater Firepower (+firedmg). The general rule is you can stack any specific effect with any non-overlapping effect. So, you can add +dmg and +firedmg, and +sta and +HP, but generally not +sta and +sta/str.

Next patch, elixirs will be put into different categories (Battle and Guardian), to further muddy the waters. They are all still going to be on either the buff cooldown or combat cooldown, though, so far as I can tell.

1 Battle effect at a time
1 Guardian effect at a time

1 Flask counts as both a Battle and a Guardian

Right now I can stack Adept's Elixir and Greater Arcane Elixir.

I will not be able to do that after they implement the Battle/Guardian change.

I had read that with respect to flasks and elixers, but not potions and buff food. Are my Buzzard Bites to be in the same class as a stam pot? Will we not be able to use ANY potions/elixers/buff food if we use a flask?

Battle / Guardian only applies to Elixirs and Flasks.

Hmm, I wonder why the change in mats for super mana and super healing? I applaud it since it makes it easier for me to make super mana (which I need) but I can't believe it is simply to make life easier for me! ;)

One other thing to use if you want a boost till 2.1 comes out is the alcohol that gives you a stam boost. It will stack with stam food and priestly buff.
