Potpie is a little sad - this is definitely a WoW specific issue for me: Far Cry, Company of Heroes, FEAR, etc. all run balls to the wall with no problems at all.

I have this crash too, its their nv4_disp.dll driver... kinda gimpy. The crash doesn't happen instantly for me. I haven't noticed it much except like they said in terrokar around the veils... It also seems more prone to happen as time goes by. I wonder if doing a console reloadui (which seems to reset things) would be preventative maintenance.
I have this crash happen once outside of terrokar, can't remember where. its not very often overall. I've seen it 3-4 times. I've got a 8800 gts evga 640mb.

Yes I wondered if you had it too, kept forgetting to ask you.
It does seem common to 8800 series GPUs.
There is something about the textures @ the Veils in Terokkar that triggers it.
I'm going to try those alternative drivers tonight, NGO first.

Potpie,
I just received my new 8800 GTX yesterday to replace my 7800 GTS board which ran great at 1600 x 1200 on my Viewsonic 21" FP monitor. I unloaded old drivers on this new box that is running Windows Vista Ultimate and installed new drivers and it started WOW/BC fine the first time, but when I rebooted for some Windows critcal updates, it would not get me past the "Play" button because it had a window shade effect and acted as if it was running at 640 x 480 at the most. I couldn't even see the login screen.... Pissed off to say the least, I went back and went into the WTF folder and manually changed the resolution to 1280 x 1024 @ 69 Hertz and it runs game just fine.
I am using latest drivers from nVidia, but I should have known Vista would screw up something within 24 hours of installing it. Anyone using this card let me know of 3rd party fix or WHQL driver.

I'm not sure about Vista - I do not recommend anyone use it. XP Pro works great.
See the link above - I've posted quite a lot to that thread since opening this one.

NVidia GeForce 8800GTX rocks now!
I spent a couple hours swaping video cards around and now am quite pleased. I put the NVidia Geforce 8800GTX (768Ram) into my ASUS P5GDC-V Deluxe motherboard that has Windows XP Pro installed and it runs absolutely incredible. I used the 97.92 Forceware WHQL driver and the image quality at 1600 x 1200 on my Viewsonic VX-2000 monitor is awesome. But dam, the 8800 GTX card is huge at over 11" long. I had to spend an hour moving hard drives and cleaning up cables.
I put the NVidia Geforce 7900GT into my my unit with Windows Vista Ultimatte (32-bit) and it also runs great at 1600 x 1200 on the Viewsonic 21" VP211B monitor. The NVidia 100.65 Windows Vista 32 bit driver works well, and they also have some Beta drivers in development that clear some up all gaming issues.
Time to play and level up!

FIXED conclusively! Running at full bore maxxed settings, 1920x1200, 8X multisample! :arms:
I simply installed a driver off Guru 3D v97.95 -- It is apparently a leaked driver that got disseminated with some Asus hardware I guess, see this thread:

Potpie,
I found that driver today for Vista 32 bit and it works great; the new version adds/modifies the INF file and it screams. Forceware 101.70 for Windows Vista 32-bit:Got it from the Guru of 3D:
