This is an old story. A story from back in the days when deadside was raidable, Curse of Doom could be put on players under mind control, and I was sporting dreadmist and thought I was on top of the world gear wise. In short, a time when I was still stupid (shut up, Red)

:flame:

Yesterday, I ran a pickup Deadside raid of seven people.

THE CAST:
Me(60 warlock)
MT (60 warrior, has pretty good gear)
60 warrior (Not so good gear)
57 shaman
60 priest
60 rogue
60 hunter

Scene: The banshee boss with mind control

We had been doing great on the run, the healers kicked ass, tanking was solid and we had DPS well under control. Nice smooth run, we cleared away the mobs on the right hand side of the Ziggurat and started to pull the boss down from there. The tank made it three steps before he got mind controlled, and he turned around and came after us.

I cast Curse of Doom on him because I feel like being a smartass.

He heads toward the priest, and fires off intimidating shout. The raid goes running off and the hunter hits some wandering gargoyles. I pop WotF and try to help the hunter take out the adds when they all turn green.

Crap. I'm mind controlled with full mana and all my cooldowns up. It's cool, normally it's not too bad and the AI tries to melee with my massive 45 attack power.

NOT THIS TIME, CHUCKLES! I get pulled back to the group, and the first thing I see getting cast? Howl of terror. The rouge and two warriors get sent into the mass of adds we didn't bother clearing. Still under control, this group was pretty good...

MT: Get this curse off me!

Except MT still had CoD on him. It crits him for 5750 (according to him), and it spawns a god damn doomguard. The doomguard goes after the priest, the rogue and the crappy geared warrior have bit the dust in the mob pile, and the priest just got raped by the ill timed doomguard.

Now the shaman, oh, the poor shaman... She was trying to OOC rez or hearth or something, because she was still at 100% health and mana while this was going on and her hands were green when the AI turned me on her. Curse of agony, corruption, (She tried to earth shock me here, I resisted) shadowbolt crit, immolate crit, shadowbolt crit, and the shaman is dead. I end up standing next to the banshee for 20 seconds while the mind control burnt off lording over the mass of death I just caused.

(Fun fact: the mobs killed the doomguard for me. I wasn't expecting that.)

The mind control finally went away, and the banshee promptly gave me an ass reaming. I didn't even get off the little steps area before I bit it. The shaman pops an anhk, and begins the normal rez up thing. Remember those two gargoyles that the hunter was dealing with? They pathed back after 5 people were up and eating/drinking. The group was in pretty good shape to fight them, and almost had one down

Eye of Naxxramus shouts: THE LIVING ARE HERE!

Oh crap. An Eye showed up, and no one got over and killed it in time. 4 gargoyles on the only half hp recovered MT, the hunter (pet was dead) the priest, the shaman and the rogue.

MT: I hate my life

As he dropped the second time in five minutes. I managed to cause an entire party wipe with one controled spell cast.

So, share what stupid things you've seen or done! I've got a lot more stories, but I won't share them until you share yours.

In Shadowfang Keep, I was a noob shaman.

We were in the barn / stables area - where you enter there is a stairwell with a landing or two on your left, straw and werewolf or two straight ahead. Straight ahead to the wall, there is a balcony above with a few more werewolves on it.

We cleared the floor area, then went up to the first landing up the stairway. We had a fight on that landing, and I accidentally dropped a Searing Totem. We finished our landing fight, and the Searing Totem (http://www.thottbot.com/?sp=3599) started shooting some more. It shot waaaaaay up into the balcony, much to my chagrin.

A train of many werewolves ensued and wiped us out handily on that landing.

That was my Searing Totem lesson - and I won't ever forget it. ;)

I've done many stupid things over my time playing. Abusing quests that most people don't do is one of my favorites.

Until a few patches ago, there was a quest that gave a debuff near the end that set your faction with horde to unfriendly. This made it so you could not talk to any NPCs. The Mark of Shame debuff had an interesting side effect, though. It allowed you to attack NPC of any horde faction in the half hour time that the debuff lasted. Now, if you did this quest properly, you wouldn'r have even seen this debuff, and if you did, the NPCs would kill you fast if you attacked them, as this was a level 35 quest. However, if you never finished the chain and did it at 60, you could have a field day.

PS: I did this a lot.

Those are Felhunters. Plays all sorts of holy hell with your frame rates, especially when he brings them to Org.

As far as stupidity. Well I have ran a LOT of PuG's, more so than most anyone I know. I was going after my pants in Deadside, and got into a pug with a fully equipped T2 druid and mage, I don't remember the guild anymore.

Well the mage decided he would be a showoff and used his top rank fireball right off the bat every time, and when the warrior would manage to get aggro, here is the poor priest trying to heal them both. It didn't go well.

So after the mage has gone out and repaired twice (he never did get it), and the priest stopped healing him except for bosses, we get to the Baron. The warrior, who is wearing some blues and D0 pieces, asks for a HoT from the druid before he charges. The same T2 druid then says he can't because he will pull aggro because of the HoT, before the charge.

Yea, that run went well.

Another is when, back in Clannada, we ran a 5-man LBRS, and Swarfy is sitting just across the second bridge, when she, to conserve some mana, bandages herself. No issue there, except for the fact that the mob beyond the pillar decided to get some heal aggro on her... from the bandages. :D

Oh yes, must not forget another LBRS run, with Melfena, who right around the previously mentioned mob in LBRS, was standing next to that crack in the floor, where ya go down to turn in the Bijou. Well there is Mel, standing next to that with his Felhound, when all of a sudden the trolls at the bottom of that little crack get pissy with his dog, and decide to swat it. Which procedes to pull every single mob they encounter on the way back up to come visit us. Only the hunter (ME) lived through that one.. hehehe

And we cannot forget the glorious Farm getting stuck in a chimney in the Ruins of Andorhal. :D :O

For a while it was par for the course to have HLS raids wipe in LBRS on the Troll Train of Doom (TM).

Oh wait! I almost forgot. There was this truly impressive rape train in BRD. At the jump where you drop to kill Incendius. Somehow. Some way. We (Melfena, Mylen, Red, Swarfette and I) pulled aggro on the group across the gap. The ensuing train was awe inspiring.

We jumped down, and all was quiet.
Then! Alllll of a sudden.

All of the stone elementals. All of the helpers. Phineus. All of the emissaries and citizens from the other side. And all of the flame elementals. All decided to pay us a visit. :Flush:

We died. Red didn't escape that time. Didn't have a chance :)

We died. Red didn't escape that time. Didn't have a chance :)Why does it seem I'm involved in all these massive trains? I'm not the one pulling them (most the time)

My favorite is the old RFD spiral train of doom. Walk too close to the inner spiral, and all the little mobbies come over to tapdance on your face, well at least till they fixed the agro range of those pulls. Was much fun, and I have great screenshots of the pain train rolling on through.

Ol BE once single handedly murdered a UBRS run by trying to solo the rend event whilst everyone was afk....twas a moment of shame from whence he is still recovering...

I have a history of taking retarded bets/dares. I have on more than one occasion wiped UBRS raids for a massive 1g bet that I couldn't pull the room before Drak... from Rend's room. Hellfire and an imp makes for a whole lot of WTFs in raidchat. :outtahere
