View Full Version : Fury Spec
Respecced fury before last nights raid, and it hurts! Titan showed I died about 13 times from pulling aggro straight off MTs or being the first to take aggro if a tank did die. The dps seems sick compared to MS. I alternated between dual-wielding the deathbringer and AV axe, to OEB/TUF. I noticed I went from 600k+ to about 830k in damage...and that included me mining ore in between.
All 3 options were very proportionate. I found it best to open up with the DW option for disgustingly fast rage gen and switch off to OEB later on boss fights. DW'ing seemed to give me the most deaths though, since I would toggle every buff option available and squeeze out some 1800 AP, 29% crit, with WF totems for the pain....pain on my minor gold amount.
The the most entertaining crit I had was 1337 with deathbringer. SCT scrolled to fast for me screenshot it =/ but it speaks for the new build. I was regularly squeezing crits out over 2k+ with a 1-hand weapon. ...Now I must learn to control the dmg output or at least balance it to make #1 on those dps charts...which is what can keel you.
And farming npcs.... I loves it!

You were doing all that with dual weilding, and you didn't even DW spec? Impressive.
BTW, when you talk about doing more damage, what are you comparing this run to? Previous 6 boss runs, or the two previous Wednesdays when we only did 4?
I'll dig back further for more reports. Crap, sounds like work now.

Just for an update, Kul, how are you liking this build after a few more days with it? I've got a baby warrior I'm raising who I've been playing using a MS build, working towards 31 arms/20 fury (currently level 51, so 31/11). It's basically a PvE soloing character at the moment, though I'm certainly still interested in any information about PvP, instance tanking, and raiding you (or anyone else) is interested in passing along.

Esoog will be respec'd to protection since I now have my shaman over here and a 40 warlock and mage for pvp/bg's... Also just looked at the build for kul and was wondering is points into imp slam really worth it?
oh and gansa will stay resto... swiftmend is just freakin awsome
Last night only improved my loving.
I was 15 mins late from enchanting helms for me and kig for FR. Started at position 50 and by the time we reached Sulf I hit dps #1. Even died on Rags 2x and brought it strong ;) What changed from my last run, I got DB from Ony and placed a crusader on it.
The build is far greater than arms. I really enjoy it with DWing, even if my offhand is a trash item. Upgrade expected here soon from MC or another DB would simply rock for this little orc fury warrior. I love slam, especially since I got a slow main hander, I can hit nearly every second...its a great rage dumper...and wont pull as much hate like HS does. Selected slam more for Sulforous but since I got DB it works great with the axe. My issue from last nights Rags kill was that I couldnt dump the rage fast enough on the all the mobs and bosses. ...and Im learning to balance threat/dps. Its really easy now pulling aggro.
For fury effectiveness I'd believe the furry warrior posts, that 1k AP is a must and minimum of -5% chance to miss.

OK, sounds like I'm better off sticking with MS for levelling, and will think about a respec after getting to 60. Thanks for all the information!
Think of arms as fire, for leveling a mage or pvp, and fury=ice for raid dps.
I disagree with Kul. I leveled Ruuk all the way to 60 with DW. It was far superior to MS for me. I HATE standing and watching my character stand there and do nothing.
There are plenty of fast 1h weapons at lower levels to help you along. Talk to your guild BS about fast 1hers.
DW is very viable pre-1k AP for grinding and leveling. 1k AP makes it viable in raiding and more importantly in PVP. That is where DW was always weak. With 1k AP it comes into its own.

Ah, but I've got a nice blue 2her (Demonslayer) sitting in the bank that I can use when I get about 10k more exp. ;)

I switched Wham to DW to test out the spec. Rumor has it that it's the best spec for leveling. However I found it rather.... lacking in kill power. But that could be my lack of knowledge with a warrior at lvl 46.
Arms Build Attack Sequence:
Improved Charge. Instant Mortal Strike. Overpower/MS/Execute till dead.
Furry Build Attack Sequence:
Charge. Wait for Bloodthirst to be available. Blood Thirst/Execute till dead.
My confusion comes with not knowing how to effectively use the 300 options I have available to kill someone. Also the lack of TM at lvl 46 really hurts. If I charge in and switch stance to Beserk I lose all the rage built up with the charge. I could stay in the arms stance but to me it seems like +crit is pretty important with a furry build.
Bottom line is that I don't think I have the gear to make a furry build effective. When the crits would roll in I'd MOW through mobs really quickly... but when the crits weren't flowing it would be quite a bit slower than the MS build. This is compounded by the fact that I have a fantastic blade for an MS build(Executioner's Axe).
So, questions:
1. When farming with a furry build, what's your exact attack sequence? Do you charge first? Bloodthirst first to build up some rage? What abilities do you use to blow through the mobs? Bloodthirst, cleave, slame, etc..?
2. How is it REMOTELY FAIR that a plate wearing warrior can out dps a leather wearing rogue? ;)

I can't answer the rest, but on this one I've got two answers: Vanish, and Stealth. Warriors can't get away very easily, and can't avoid fighting in the first place. Rogues can do both. :)
"1. When farming with a furry build, what's your exact attack sequence? Do you charge first? Bloodthirst first to build up some rage? What abilities do you use to blow through the mobs? Bloodthirst, cleave, slame, etc..?"
At that level you may be better off asking ruuk/bloodbelch. They leveled quite a bit as fury....and its all bb knows on his nonstop farming escapades.
I have some basic tactics pointed out in the raid dps guide. Basically charge, soon as you charge swap to zerker stance such that once you reach the mob you are in zerker and in that stance you gain the charge rage. Very nice feature to take advantage of....due to the timing, bind stance keys to f1-3 or whatever is best for you.
Once in range, battleshout, bloodrage, improved berseker rage(+10 rage), BT, HS, (slam only if mob has a slow atk speed). I just stay in zerker stance throughout all fights for crit % boost. I do stance dance, but I really dont as much now since with my build and gear, rage is digustingly high to swap stances when I can just spam skill sets.
On the second question, once the rogues upgrade in bwl ill start to fall down until we get into aq and I grab the conquerers set...or I can get my paw on sulf or other dw upgrades ;) Currently the pvp gear gives me the clear edge should you compare kigs, bijorn (think he's fury) and my dps stats/gear....and with them OT'ing doesnt help the dps game.

I've been DW since day one. I focused a lot on gear with agility to get my crit% up then strength for AP. I never really used zerker that much i just stayed in battle stance because as you I didn't have TM. I would charge, rend, hamstring, heroic strike, cleave, overpower if it was available and execute. Make sure battle shout is always up to add to attack power. Demoralizing shout is also good to use. I'm not uber like the rest but this is what I used.
Honestly, I didnt use any other stance except Battle until I reached 55 or so and started tanking. It just wasnt necessary. Kigs sequence is what I used also. Charge, rend, Hamstring, Battle shout if necessary, dem shout if necessary, overpower when available, execute.
My spec was 25/26 for a long time. I took up to sword spec in arms and put the rest in Fury.

Fury is definitely where DPS will come from. The only drawbacks being the total gear dependency. The most gear dependent spec of the most gear dependent class(so I'm told at least). And, until one learns to aggro manage without the nice little tricks other classes have (FD, vanish, and all the other aggro reducers, including talents), you need to be prepared to just hit escape if you climb too high on the aggro meter. Other then that yeah, DW fury is beautiful, although I've heard with the right weapon 2h Fury is nice (The Untamed Blade is a perfect example of a 2h fury weapon). And, while I haven't gotten to that point gearwise yet, from what I have gathered prowling the warrior forums, bloodthirst should be a bigger contributer for DPS then slam. I didn't really look at your spec too much, but yeah I could see putting the points elsewhere, like DW spec would increase DPS perhaps. Of course that could just be my lack of experience talking, the only raiding I've done was forced tanking because my that guild didn't understand the concept of DPS warriors.
