I don't claim that this is a magic fix, but if we change our groups for Ragnaros it will make it a hell of a lot easier on the healers. Hopefully, that'll help! ;)

Here's what I suggest (unfortunately I won't be there to see how it works!):

G1:
MT1
MT2
shaman - FR, Windfury, Str totems
warlock
priest

G2:
druid
priest
shaman/priest
shaman (assigned to heal MT healers) - Tranquil air, FR totems
Ranged dpser (warlock/mage)

G3-5 (approximately):
Melee dps groups. These groups contain all the dps warriors, rogues, and around 5-6 mixed healers. One shaman per group is needed, for FR totems. Put all the dps warriors in one group with a shaman if possible, Windfury in that group. Grace of Air in other groups for rogues. Put a couple hunters in with rogues if not enough melee dps.One healer assigned to the melee dps healers, rest focused on keeping the dps up.

G6-8 (approximately):
Ranged dps groups. These groups contain all the mages and warlocks (except those in the MT groups) and all the hunters (except any used as fill for the melee dps groups). About 3 healers in these groups (1 of each class ideally), shouldn't need more. Use rogues grouped with hunters in a group if we're heavy on melee dps, and put a shaman (and/or feral druid) in that group if possible. Put shadow priests here, and group balance druids with all caster groups if possible. Less need for shamans here, except for agility with hunters.

Hopefully, this will help out with at least one aspect of that fight. ;)

Excellent post, Myrkris!

It is obvious that each group needs to be reset just for Rags as we know what we are doing now is just not working. All my other Alliance and Horde guild friends from other servers say Fire Resistance is very important, but that Grouping and Positioning are even more important.

I suggest that everyone spend more time and do your home work on Rags before our next attempt.

on other thing is range to healers, yes we are all supposed to be spread out but if your healer has to run all the way around the ring to get you a heal... your prolly going to die it might be a good idea to announce or make it known who the range healers, especially are that way the ranged DPS can do a check to make sure they arent OOR for heals

That's why you break it down by groups. For the ranged dps groups, put one healer in each group and have the group stay in the same general area and problem = solved.

I thought this plan was executed well, esp. on that second pull. We had raid surviveability increase 50% over some previous pulls.

The Sons were handled, not very pretty, but we're getting better.

The primary concern I have after last night is that although surviveability was increased, we lost 10% or so of our DPS over prior good DPS attempts.

we need to move the slider bar for "DPS" and "raid HP" up and up to continue improving. This will be accomplished by making sure we get our FR up as a raid. That 80 FR buff from BRS is looking more and more appealing.

Once i get my internet connection problems worked out, I should be more DPS help than last night. I got disconnected 4 times between the domo and rags fight.

Need to bring our main characters out sunday Rag nights...forget the under par alts. We shouldnt bring the alts out for the encounter until we have the encounter down like Domo. Or better yet, park your main at the entrance so we can swap your toon out for optimal raid performance. The groupage and positioning by gray and az showed improvements than before. Training where people should be standing and by assigning a group leader to each raid group will assist our progress and positioning strategies. Group leader would be responsible to ensure their group members are at optimal range of each other and nearby groups.

Also, dropping fury/DW fury warriors into shammy groups that just do str/agil totems would get better perks than the shammy windfury - 2hand warrior group. 2 hand warriors should make use of slam in addition to hs/ms. Its quite useful providing two hits in the time it takes for one swing.
