Baron 45 script... so close. this is an epic tale, so hopefully you have some time. :popcorn:
I got online last night at 7:45 and HLS is running 2 instances already. BRD group is forming up, and another group is inside Scholo. I am still on my Baron 45 kick so I start aggressively recruiting in guild chat for people to come with me... nothing surfaces really. People have committed to groups either for PVP or scholo or brd. I keep at it... Unka is the first to crack. He says, "who we got?"
I say, "you and me, but we'll fill up"
So we did. I got a tell from Moogaa that FullMetalmoo had been asking for some help in EPL with his Ornate breastplate quest line, so I recruit him to the group. We go and beat up those tough dorfs at undercroft and I send a PM to wump, he gladly joins the crew. We need a healer, and I know wooti's shaman is completely jazzed to go beat the baron in 45 minutes, he's working on his .5 armor set upgrades as well. I grab scuttlekraw, and we convert fullmetalmoo to Ninewhile. We're all a little nervous to not have a mage or a priest, but I am cocky and confident that we can somehow find a way to make this wierd group work. We have Wump hax, we have 2 sets of totems, and we have unka's killer DPS. Then we have me playing the wannabe rogue role and taunter of all things nasty.
Well, this epic group got offered free buffs from the supportive Moogaa, so we gamely rallied at LHC to recieve the buffages. Then a kind priest gave us all fortitude. We dinked around a good 10-15 minutes before we started pulling. I imagined all the raiders were diligently emptying their bladders and making sure they had a survival kit of adrenaline and caffeine and ephedra on hand to make sure we were all properly performing. After this delay, we started pulling. There was a lot of ventrilo chatter, except from wump since his mic sensitivity was owning him.
We were on a near record pace with 0 deaths until after the spider. We went into the trap and unka fell. Half the bugs were eating our shaman healers and half the bugs were interrupting the piss out of unka so we had to melee dps the buggers down. This unsettled us a bit, and a crazy gleam entered my eyes at this minor setback. We pulled the stuff post trap with gust-o, and when a path was clear past that fountain, I charged forth berserker style to the sidewalk between 2 pulls of ghouls. Well, I foolishly froze on the far side of the street from my group and aggro'd both sets of ghouls. i came back with 6 cleaving ghoulies on my arse and they waxed our group. Time was suddenly very tight, our comfortable lead had evaporated. I had both shaman pop and rez as soon as possible. We executed the same pull, but this time I went across teh street and instead of going to the blank space between 2 groups, i went straight for the left group, then scuttle/wooti pulled the right group and we pulled a mob or 2 from mid-street and then pulled the mobs on the left side of the ziggy. Then maleki himself was dropped. He dropped a +15 FR offhand, nice stuff. We had loot on "FFA" which did speed things up a tad for me... I only stopped to loot on like 2 pulls. was faster to not have to deal with loot windows popping in your face.
After we downed maleki, time was short and my blood was pumping. Would we have enough time? Had my berserker rage pull destroyed our chance at success? we hustled down the street and skipped the magistrate, our wipe had guaranteed that we didn't have time for him. We immediately settled on a game plan for the abomination event and started it up. We pulled at a nice pace and never faced 2 at one time. Unka's AE and the healing of Nine and Scuttle was equal to the task of handling all the bile slimes. We did fine on the AE event as well after handling Ramstein, I burned an AE taunt when I saw unka hit 40% health, and this seemed to relieve the burden so he didn't go down prom date style. 3 minutes remained on the clock now. we waited for the skelly guards to come out. I went in, shouted obscenities at them all to demoralize their will, and kicked off Sweeping strikes and started Cleaving them and Thunderclapping and then I hit Retaliation to finish them all off. They were bested handily.
We went into the baron's foul lair with 2 minutes on the clock. We were all a bit nervous about this pull, would unka be able to AE the skelly adds down without dying? would the 2 shaman haxx0rs be able to keep us alive and keep unka alive? We knew it would be tough... and it was. The baron's health was gonig down too slow. Wump was switching to skellies that were stuck near the baron... i think they spawned and hit my fire shield and this damage caused them to stay in range of the baron -- where they could be sacrificed to feed his health. The baron was about 60% and unka was out of mana and out of hax. The Shaman were near depleted. Wump became enraged at the injustice of it all and plunged his blades furiously into the cracks i'd sundered in the Baron's fel armor. But it was too late, the baron rebounded from 40% health back to 60% again with his magic. We were defeated. But, we have the plan to defeat him next time.

After we died, we went back in and scuttle joined the UBRS run and the 4 HLS brothers went forth to the live side with only ninewhile to heal us. We got 2 righteous orbs before we even opened the cathedral doors. And we called it a night there on the steps of the scarlet cathedral, unka has 5 holy waters now, which should help us control the skellies in baron's lair next time we face him.
