Don't get overwhelmed - It's really easy once you get the hang of it - like Domo. If you have questions, Az and I are well schooled in the slaying of Onyxia - msg us anytime. :hug:

I told ibliss everything we did with Ony, he should be able to give some insite as well.
Remember, after the 1.10 patch, she will DB, so now you have to work it a little different... [Full dots, all out DPS... [treat it like a Rag fight] Till about 45%, then you need to let the people that can drop aggro bring her down... And make sure the MT is ready for it :) ]

"she will DB"
What does that mean?

I hate Alliance...
Whelps that are still spawned from the last wipe are pulled off the MT with light AE damage (ie: Consecration)

DB = Deep Breath. Sorry...
When I get back from taking my wife to the Dr, I will write up some info on doing Ony with little to no issues. Most of Ony is a matter of teamwork and making sure people do exactly what they are told. [Stop DPS, Start DPS, Full Dots, Not taking aggro, etc...]

Don't you just poke her a lot with a sword?

I'd like to make a suggestion.
Everyone, please refrain from putting up 'your take' on the Onyxia fight.
People should read the guide PotPie posted, it is very thorough.
If you have anything to add to the guide, please do. Otherwise, you are going to confuse the people who have never been a part of this fight, or don't even know where her cave is.
Thanks. :thumb:

More DOTS
i like seeing the different takes, even if its kind of confusing.
when we get to ony though, we definitely need to make sure we are all reading from the same playbook.
lately we have been going into new encounters and only 4-5 ppl out of the 20 there have done any homework. Then you add in 2-3 people who want to chime in with the "perfect strat" but the problem is they are all contradictory, or they involve pallies. :P
1 voice and 1 setup and we win... Domo on the 2nd pull anyone? talk about being on the same page!! that rocks.

Speaking of which, where IS her cave?
Southern Dustwallow Marsh, just north of Emberstryfe's Den.

I like you tips.
yeah we do need everyone to read this guide before wednesday.
The horde side will need to manage aggro moreso than the silly pally infested alliance, so there is one addendum to this guide that we need to be aware of.
The DPS needs to come off during phase 1 at 10% intervals so that the MT can stay at the top of the list.
The MT will call off DPS and then call it back on at the necessary times.
Pay special attention to this guide though! Ask yourself when reading it, "what is my role?"
This looks like a real tough fight, unless we really know our individual role. Watching Faded Dreams take Onyxia down, it looked effortless, but you put 30 people in there who know what they are doing, and its going to be real easy. If we study the guide, I don't see much reason why we can't be successful very quickly.
I would ask that anyone that does DPS get this mod. Start using it for MC and most importantly for Onyxia.
I think Bloodlot can give us some pointers on how to use it if ppl have questions. This mod is one more tool to help us be successful on Onyxia.

Taken from the readme for raid leaders. Setup macros to do the master target setting and clearing to make your life a little easier :)
Step one is to work out how many people have the mod, or get everyone to upgrade to the latest version:
1) Broadcast the CTRA channel, to make sure everyone using the mod will register your commands.
/rabroadcast
2) Check versions. Run the command
/ktm version query
, or a suitable abbreviation, such as just
/ktm v q
3) Now wait a few seconds, and the mod will print out something like
KTM: These people are using version 14: { Adam, Bob, }
KTM: These people are using version 13: { Cindy, Dave, }
KTM: These people are using older versions: { Edd, Frank, }
KTM: These people aren't using KLHThreatMeter: { Gill, Harry, }
4) Upgrade message. Run the command
/ktm version notify
, or an abbreviation such as
/ktm v n
. On people with older version, this will print out a message telling them to upgrade. However if their version is really old, it won't recognise the command, so you need to shout at the manually. Get all the people in the "using older versions" and "aren't using KLHThreatMeter" categories, and harrangue them until they install the mod.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Step two is to set up a master target. It is often the case that in boss fights, there are a few adds present, or waves of weaker mobs that attack from time to time. It's most important to consider threat just towards the boss. If you set up a master target, then any damage and abilities against other mobs will not register on the meter. To do this,
1) Target the boss in question
2) Run the command
/ktm mastertarget set
, or a suitable abbreviation, e.g.
/ktm mas set
Everyone using the mod will see a message "The master target has been set to <Mob Name> by <Your Name>." You'll also see the mob's name in the label of the raid window when it is open.
3) When the fight is over, to clear the master target, run the command
/ktm mastertarget clear
, or
/ktm mas c
and the mod will revert to its default state.
NOTE: Make sure you enable the master target on any tauntable boss. Taunt will only work properly when there is a master target.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Other stuff:
To clear everyone's threat,
/ktm raid clear
. This shouldn't usually be necessary; the mod should do this in most cases when it's needed.
bump!
need everyone to read this guide a couple times and take little notes for what you need to do in each phase.
We'll hopefully be able to get some information from some veteran Onyxia raiders tonight before the event.
Be at dustwallow marsh before 7:15 if at all possible.
KLHthreatmeter is going to be a nice addition to our toolset... lets try it tonight.
I'm going to have to leave a bit before the scheduled raid time. I have company coming over after 9:30. We have 8 warriors, so we'll be fine if I have to jet... I'm betting we down onyxia before 9:30 though, assuming everyone does a little homework.
PS: we need some HAWC to help with a UBRS raid to get thwak drakk blood tonight before dinner time. Hop on and help out! We onyl have 3 hunters signed up and thwak is one of the 3.
Better get reading!!! :)

Bump for sunday night raid.
More food for thought; don't use WOTF on the first fear?

I mentioned it once before but when she fears and you resist it, if you attack her at all she will aggro on you.
I berzerk everytime the earth shakes (as many as I can) and if I don't back off at that point she pounds me every time.

So that seems to imply we shouldn't be aoeing the welps until the MT has her under control as well. It doesn't make sense that I can't bandage but I can AOE. I think this might have been where we had all of our issues.
from what I read in those posts and what I've heard from around BH, bandaging and AOE'ing whelps should not cause a problem with the transition.

Killing welps does not make Ony look at you... Now any type of healing [outside of a potion] will as any other mob will notice you doing that.
If you dont kill welps, they will run all over the raid :(
Sol should use battleshout to build extra aggro. Buffing your party members, makes her bring the ugly on you.
