so if i am remember the current ice talent correctly this patch would mean a 40% NERF to critical chance for ice mages. um... that is a pretty steep nerf considering the shit they gave in return. worst review patch yet. the paladin one was better.

Basically they moved some stuff around to make "elementalist builds" fire/ice/no arcane more viable.
Everything else is nerf or makes no real change. The only change that is somewhat helpful is Arcane Subtlery reducing threat across all schools of magic instead of just arcane.
As has been evidence in their CM/GM responses - I doubt very highly that anyone at blizzard plays something other than a Shaman/Warlock.

5% Arcane power reduction. Combustion looks interesting if the cooldown is reasonable like 3 minutes. Might have to try a elementalist spec again I guess. They seem intent on nerfing mage spike damage potential... :cussing:

Elementalist could be interesting - but it will be a total mana drain...
Almost wonder if some form of tri-spec is now doable (just enough in Arcane to lower resists)...
All that being said - I am extremely disappointed in this review if it does indeed look exactly like this - it makes me want to power level my hunter and priest that much more....

*Casts deathcoil on the mage review team and rides off into the sunset
wtf......:cussing:
Paladins become AWESOME
locks become AWESOME
preists become AWESOME
mages get AP Nerfed, Combustion which is already lame, is NERFED, ....
they didnt mention anything about fixing bLINK.
their idea of fixing mage survivabilty is improved dampen magic ?
This patch is so gay, they did NOTHING.. Pom is still a 21 pt talent, iceblock is still 21 points. they gave us free evoke, and iae... wow thanks! sorry but this pisses me off, we waited a LOnG time for this. and get screwed. you still HAVE to have 21 pts in Arcane because of pom, so their "elemental build" is worthless and stupid. and ice shield is still worthless and combustion is even more worthless now. so most mages will still use AP.. accomplished nothing.
they REMOVED improved nova and shatter only does 10% WTF!
Ice got the worst nerf of all. And they want to get rid of AP fire mages, they just got rid of a lot of mages , now the warlock rate
will triple.
edit: and ROFL at them finally giving mages a reduce threat spell that isnt needed anymore since AP is nerfed and Icemages can never crit anything. and i thought the constant nerfing of mages for the last 4 patches was because they were planning on bumping up overall mage dmg. Nope, just gradual nerfing so they could hit us with a big one. Rank 7 food was the best thing in the patch how surprising. PF Is dead to me

yeah i didnt catch it but did they remove the extra 50% damage frost gets on crits too? frost got majorly nerfed the others didnt get improved and were minorly nerfed. i suppose ice/fire got a minor buff however with pom at 21 arcane elementalist is still the gimpiest build for pvp where instant cast is all matters.

frost still gets double dmg on crits, but the crit rate is reduced by 40%. unless u stack five winters chills and get a whopping 5% extra crit!! who has time to hit anything with 5 spells in fifteen seconds.. cant believe they nerfed ice so much...
The survivability is increased armour through new talents I guess. Also, you can drop 3 points into Permafrost and get 50% ranged snares via frostbolts for a tier 1 talent. Fire and arcane both had talent point requirements reduced for several things which might free up these points. Seems like everyone can get improved frost nova cooldowns for 2 points at the top of the tree as well though 2/4 seconds is really goofy considering the diminishing returns code they added. Should be 3/6 or 4/8 seconds in my opinion.
Ice seems to have actually gotten a buff now that I look harder at it. I still get a 50% crit rate on frozen targets through Shatter. Frostbite was moved to tier 2 and reduced to 3 points for the same effect thus giving me more chances to proc Shatter.
For elementalist, that master of elements talent that gives mana back for fire/ice damage spells is the answer to mana woes I'm guessing. Hopefully it's as useful as clearcasting. Having blastwave and improved CoC was fun.
Guess I'll have to see if they haved fixed my ability to survive the initial attack of a T2 rogue with some insane dps weapon. Last night I got hit by unknown enity's ambush for 1742, off hand hit for 400 or so then Rie's backstab landed for 1300. I was face down before I could even react which is damn annoying. He might have had the zerker buff but I have an autorelease mod so I didn't get a good look. If they're going to reign in my burst damage potential, the love needs to be spread around...
Edit: They need to put it into a calculator. Misread some stuff or IGN is editing the pages hehe.

Take a closer look at shatter. just noticed this but it now works with all spells where it used to be only frost spells.

yeah after initial anger it isnt terrible, some parts are nice. the shatter will be nerfed shortly though, it will be so completely overpowering. It will be interesting to see how I fare without my pom / AP pyros and improved counterspells. The combustion became more useful as well. Increases fireball chance by 10% until u get a crit, then increases it by 20% , then 30% and is on a 5 minute cooldown. Having iceblock and blastwave will be fun.
this is probably what i will start off with http://www.wowhead.com/talent/?kZexbc0bdZVVcuMVs

i want combustion so i cant get iceblock unfortunately but i think i will end up going for shatter and blastwave for the nova, blastwave, shatter combusted goodness.
am thinking this since i really want to try combustion. if it sucks i will drop another point into frost for iceblock.

icebarrier while still rather 'meh..' is on a 30 second cooldown now which basically means it is always on. but i want the 6% crit and 10% damage to fire spells.

Thnk about Nova / Blastwave / Cone of cold / Cold Snap / Nova / Cone of cold / IAE
u could take out ten people at once.

And some of you think Mages are underpowered? Sheesh...

oh i have! the spec i will likely use can do that... just no iceblock at 21. coldsnap is a must have without PoM imo.
also remember that if anyone freezes a target everyone that has shatter gets the crit modifier on that target, not just the mage that froze them. considering how many mages we run in pvp that is a lot of novas and tons of crit potential. hope it doesn't get nerfed. ;)
edit: are you thinking of taking the imp CoC talent? for the AoE stuff it rocks in conjunction with the other frost talents. 1k CoC's!! Blastwave hits nearly for 1K as well on a crit.

of course im getting imp CoC, frost is all about DMG. Now that i have dmg gear, i am anxious to get back.. and the one hesitation was that i have 90 fire damage on my gear, now that wont be wasted. I can pull off 2k frost crits with the ToEP up. if shatter/ frostbite proc, gg.
