Is there any relatively easy way to fish? When I tried it last time, it seemed like twitch gaming. I'd rather not sit at my desk watching the bobber for hours to level it, but I need to get it up on my flower picker for some of the potions he can also make.
I use an addon called Fishping. You still have to sit at your machine but you dont have to stare at the monitor quite as intently. It makes a pinging noise when you get a fish hit.,

lol that is not "twitch gaming" myrk! ;p
that isn't even really gaming... i can think of pre-schooler toys with more depth to them.

It's twitch gaming when whether you are successful (and thus, whether you skill up) relies on the speed of reaction when the fish strikes your lure. I absolutely HATE fishing, and if I didn't need it for some Alchemy there's no way in hell I'd be doing it.

i guess when i think twitch gaming i think of rocket jumping off of a jump-pad, doing a 180 in midair and railgunning the person behind you out of the air then landing and pumping a few shotgun rounds in the face of the flag carrier. ;)
but yeah... clicking on that bobber works i guess ;p

After 45 min fishing last night, I was LONGING for the EQ version. At least then you didn't need to sit there staring at the screen to make any progress.
You could farm for gold instead and buy them off the AH.

This is my level 20 toon, so no money. I suppose I could farm gold with my main, but that's twinking! ;)

Both Manogan and QP are 300 fishers... I'm going to camp QP at Steamwheedle Port and hire the neighbor kids to fish up Stonescale eels. No, they aren't Chinese...

ROFL!
I wonder what it costs to hire IGN or someone to skill fishing? ;)

I run Cosmos with the TackleBox addon.
It's just a right click on water to cast, and a right click on the bobber to retrieve and auto-cast again.
I cast, put my mouse on the bobber, and watch TV. When I hear the noise I just right click again.

You've just given me one more reason to get the WoW laptop... I can't watch TV from my computer! :(

They actually did away with right click casting with this last patch. All of the mod writers are trying to figure a way around it, but for now, you have to manually cast.
What kind of fish do you need Myrk? I'm 300 fishing; have been for some time now. I like fishing in real life, and in game fishing tends to relax me, much like sitting along a lake does. If you need anything, please let me know. Oh, and most of the fish needed for alchemy can now be found in pools along the coast of different regions in game. Oily blackmouth and Firefins both have spawn points, so I could very likely get you a stack or two in about 30 minutes (or you could if you found the pools).

Stonescale Eels are going to be in big demand along with the oil with the Tier .5 quests going on. I'm going to fish em up like CRAZY!

Tacklebox with the new cosmos alpha allows right click to cast, the only thing it doesn't do now is auto-recast when clicking the bobber to catch the fish.

Any idea if I can get Tacklebox without Cosmos?

Not that simple a question, actually. I pretty much need whatever fish I can use to skill cooking and alchemy on my alt. :)
I've got the alt to noodle around with when I don't feel like playing Myrk, and to eventually keep Myrk in stat foods and potions as necessary. I never skilled cooking or fishing with Myrk, and would like an alchemist anyway so I'm taking care of several needs at once. I'm doing it this way because I hate asking for charity to get consumables and don't like AH prices much better. I guess I just prefer to be self-sufficient.

Attached.
Not sure if there are any dependencies tied into cosmos though - but I don't think so.
Give it a shot :)

## Notes-deDE: Erleichtert das Fischen enorm.

TackleBox.xml
MCom is the only requirement - whatever that is. Some Library that is in Cosmos I guess, but I do not know what its individual availability is, or whether it also has dependencies.

Heh, found out last night I was drastically overestimating the need for speed when the bobber bobs. Apparently there's no need for a quick reacting, just a right click within a few seconds. I had it in my head that speed mattered, hence my description of it as "twitch-gaming." It's clearly NOT that! It's also one hell of a lot more pleasant now that I'm not stressing out over instantly reacting... :)
It gets even better if you intall FishPing. FishPing plays a sound when your bobber is hit. You really can take your attention away while fishing. I was reading and fishing at the same time the other night.

Yeah, I often do homework while fishing, which means sticking my nose in 8 or 9 articles and memorizing where the good nuggets of info are so that I can use them later. I guess that's why fishing is so relaxing for me. It's realy the opposite of healing, where I am sitting there staring at health bars all day.:bigeyes2:
