View Full Version : What's with the lack of Infernals?
Okay, I know absolutely diddly-squat about Warlocks. They look evil.... debuff shit.... and give me boogers every once in awhile. So what is the reasoning behind the lack of Infernals summoned? Are they just too 'expensive'? Not useful?
When we first started playing this game, I was always anxious to see the almighty Infernal kicking ass. But since then, I think I've seen like one, which Myrc summoned during PvP for novelty.
I WANT MORE INFERNAL RAMPAGE!
Yeah , rarely ever see them unless in AV or the prior TM battles.

Can't use them indoor and most instances are indoors even if they are outdoors.
Not sure about WSG, but I'd think it's fast enough where they could be a non-factor

I think the basic problem is that infernals tend to break free from control every few minutes, which if timed badly causes no end of problems. Because of that, they aren't deemed as useful as the other pets. That's my impression, but we'll have to wait for a warlock to answer for a more definitive perspective.

I use infernals every time I go into AV. They do massive damage and can take a beating, but like my fellow HAWC locks said already... The can only be under control for 5 minutes then they break and turn on us -- which means we have to enslave again and there 30% less effective then the first time. They can only be used outdoors, and have a 1hr cool down on being summoned. (plus they cost .5 G to be summoned). So I use them on suicide runs in AV, they will most likely get taken down b4 turning, but not b4 dealing a ton of damage to a ton of people :)

Yeah, Jabber answers it. Outdoor only, 1 hour cooldown, 50s reagent, and enslave breaks after the first 5 mins and it's not worth re-enslaving in most cases. And new in 1.7: The stun he casts on summon can now be resisted. =)
I use Kevin (the infernal) on all outdoor boss fights I encounter, and occasionally use him to break a big group of mobs while farming (in Felwood, for example).
He's a blast, though. PvP he sees a lot of use.

I absolutely love the things and I use em more then I should, for shock value only. actual combat value (outside of av) is questionable. A few notable cases, all while under the influence of various beverages:
Flagged alliance were holding the org zep tower. i stepped almost off the edge, summoned an infernal, flagged....then jumped off the tower to see alliance jumping ship all over.
A mage and myself were running around flagged and got whupped by two rogues, we promptly respawned, summoned an infernal at which point they stupidly ran instead of killing my cloth-covered butt. Used Curse of Exhaustion to counter their dash and ran them into the ground.
Last week in felwood raiding (2 people) the alliance FP, I had enslaved Immolatus, L56elite infernal. when he finally fell to overwhelming force, I immediately summoned an infernal of my own which caused the alliance to bug out for the most part.
Overkill, yes....Expensive, yes....and you still usually die, but that's the kinda fun I was hoping for when I bought this game.
The Infernals were out in full force last night in Zul Gurub and I LOVED it. Thank you to all who unleashed their fury. They're so fun to watch.

I called one in AB last night and was immediately killed for my trouble. So Kevin went on a rampage attacking everything in sight, including my horde friends.
But mostly, he stuck to chasing down Alliance, I asusme because they had agged him while he was my pet and he remembered it.
Was fun while it lasted.
